Yesterday, Mary Jane shared with us her reflection on prayer. I wanted to repost her reflection for all to read.
Thank you Mary Jane for your writing!

PRAYER...
by Mary Jane
What an amazing privilege we have to pray. Prayer is
worship. Prayer brings us to the throne of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are so
blessed to know that we are but a prayer away from communicating with God.
Prayer should be on our lips from the moment we open our eyes in the morning
till we close our eyes at night. And even if we wake up during the night with a
thought of someone else, or a worship song in our mind, that is God speaking to
us saying, "Someone needs prayer, come to Me now and pray for them."
Prayer isn't always about us, it is about those we love, those we fellowship
with. It is about the trials people are going through in marriages and in
illness. It is about the missionaries around the world serving God. It is about
our military and their families. It is about our children no matter how old
they are. And yes we can pray for ourselves as well. God never sleeps. He is
waiting 24/7 to hear our prayers.
All my life I prayed silently. It wasn't until 2006 when I had my first
experience at group prayer. I went to a meeting thinking it was singing, as the
title of the event was, Women's Night of Worship. To my surprise it was six
ladies around each table sharing in prayer, out loud, one by one. My heart
sank, I thought "oh no, I can't do this." So I bravely confessed to
these women that I had never prayed out loud in groups before. They were so
generous in their words to me assuring me it was okay. Just pass and pray
silently they said to me. The prayers started and I was sitting mid way around
the group table. It was that very night that the Lord invited me into a
ministry of prayer. Words started coming from my lips, I was praying out loud.
I had become a voice of prayer, a Woman of Prayer. Yes, my voice was nervous,
my hands were shaky as I held the sisters hands next to me. My stomach had
butterflies, but I prayed. I knew from that night on that God was preparing me
for this beautiful and humbling desire to be a Woman whose Heart is to pray.
I pray for voices that are shy to pray aloud. I know the prayers are in their
hearts silently being prayed. All prayers are acceptable to God even if they
are one word, one sentence long. Pray for the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to
fill you with the words that you search for. Close your eyes and ears to the
world around you and feel the presence of Jesus and just pray. I promise you in
time you will be one with the Lord in prayer. Their is no fear when we are in
prayer at the foot of the throne of our Lord.
If someone asks you for prayer, pray with them right then, or get yourself a
little special prayer request book to carry with you so you can jot it down and
pray later. God searches daily for prayer warriors and if you feel that knock
on the door of your heart, know that God is calling you to be a Woman who has a
heart to pray. Prayer is so easy, Jesus taught us how to pray. Matthew 6:9-13
Our Father in Heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation.
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen
Everything we need to know about prayer is in that prayer. As we read in
Matthew, God knows the things we have need of before we ask Him. We come to His
throne praising him, thanking him, asking for forgiveness of our sins, speaking
our request, and always pray in His will be done, not our will be done. We give
Him the glory and the honor for what He is doing and what He is about to do.
Amen!
